The Night Sky
Bruce Levine
The rain pelted the windows
Unheard
The wind buffeted the building
Unknown
Sleep overcame all extremities
Like a hummingbird at a flower
Dreams transporting
Transforming like pollen into honey
The night sky encasing sleep
In a blanket of tranquility
Until dawn
As the horizon fills with light
And the glow of a new day
Beckons the clouds to fill the sky
Washing away the remnants of rain
Turning the wind into a caressing breeze
Through the fringe of a moment
