Pools of Pixels
Amanda Su Wilgus
Screens green, red and blue play pixels in synch
with split-second thought-bubbles flagging
the funny with laugh tracks and a wink –
and then! the sad: soaring strings wail and a sagging,
glum eye twinkles with Clear Eyes to tell us
It’s not all that bad. It’s funny and fun! It’s a light-hearted romp into fantastic reality;
it’s the answer to this surreal life.
Oh! Feed me the wonder-less
joy of heads talking, sounds biting – give me the banality
of time seeking escapes from beneath layers of fabricated rife.
This is our love, a 360-obsession
leading us each to our lake to admire
a reflection: a succession
of images in our sake—Narcissus Screens, from which we never tire.
