A Seasonal Poem
Dan Cuddy
Little pieces of shale/ice
speckle the lawn
that rug of brown/yellow grass
a welcome mat
for the returning spring
so expected to make
a fluttering, colorful entrance
with a song on its lips
a dance in its fashionable bloom
the sun will mine the sharp/hard world
drip its ore into the eye
that will glow
metaphorically
like a marble rolling
the air bubbles
the cloudy striations
the glint of inspiring sun
